ABOUT BIFFECHE
Biffeche is a small Kingdom on the borders of Sénégal and Mauritania, on the Sénégal River in the "Sahel" region of West Africa. It has been a Kingdom from time immemorial, first mentioned by the French in early XVII Century documents. An unusual feature of this fundamentally African Kingdom is that since 1963, the Kings of Biffeche have been white.
The Kingdom is a short distance from the picturesque French colonial city of Saint-Louis in Sénégal on the Atlantic Ocean, easily reached from there by road or river launch. A small airport is maintained just outside the Kingdom in Dakar-Bango, by Sénégal. Biffeche is a place of pristine semi-desert beauty, with a proud, industrious, fun-loving people with unique cultural practices, and remarkable flora and fauna. With the blessings of Almighty God, the people of this Kingdom are rising from roots of extreme poverty in this century to find their true place in the world.
Biffeche is home to the Biffeche Dragon, reputedly the second-largest lizard in the world (after the Komodo Dragon of Indonesia). The government of Sénégal maintains the famous Parc du Djoudj on Biffeche's northern edge. A bird-watcher's paradise of a park with hundreds of rare and important bird species.
The royal capital of Biffeche is the holy village of M'Boubene (formerly Biffeche-Ville), with administrative functions and festivals at the towns of Savoigne and Savoigne-Pionniers. There are 11 different languages spoken in the Kingdom. Most often heard are Sérrér-Ndut, Pulaar, Wolof, Bambara and French. Some Arabic and English are spoken unofficially. The currency is the CFA Franc, administered for Biffeche by the governments of Sénégal, Cote d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Cameroun. The local Biffeche Dinar-Haut (BDH), used only ceremonially, is rarely seen. However, it is to be noted that the Dinar-Haut is a hard currency. Always tied to the Euro that can always be converted one to one with the Euro. Any Kingdom of Biffeche official is obligated to convert Dinar-Haut to Euros on request. The religions are Islam, Christianity (predominantly Roman Catholic), and traditional religion including Great White Leopard and Pangool. Ethnic groups include Pulaar (Peuhls, Fula), Serrer-Ndut, Wolof, Naar (Moor) and American. In addition to the Royal Family, the Kingdom has a very small European-style aristocracy, as well as Muslim and Christian Orders of Knighthood.
The town of Savoigne has a wonderful relationship with its sister-city of La Férté-Macé in the L'Orne region of Argentan, Normandie, France. We encourage all of the people of La Férté-Macé to visit us in Biffeche. We are so grateful for what you have done for us in the last years.
